According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and many provinces and cities are still practicing social distancing according to Directive 16. In order to strictly implement the instructions of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Transport in the complicated situation of the Covid-19 epidemic nationwide as well as to ensure the rights of customers, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires domestic airlines (Vietnam Airlines, VietjetAir, Bamboo Airways, Pacific Airlines, Vietravel Airlines) to stop selling tickets on domestic routes until further notice.
The Department also requested airlines to refund passengers through the same channels through which they paid for tickets on domestic flights issued after July 21 until further notice.

Previously, on July 21, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requested to minimize the number of commercial flights from Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities implementing Directive 16 to Hanoi. Passenger flights between Can Tho, Phu Quoc - Hanoi and vice versa were stopped. For the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route and vice versa, a maximum of two passenger flights per day were operated, and Vietnam Airlines was assigned to operate them.

For cargo flights, there are no restrictions. For flights for the purpose of disease prevention and control, serving public affairs, the airline must plan to report to the department for consideration and resolution on a case-by-case basis. Other irregular flights are upon request and must be permitted by the competent authority.
