According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and many other provinces and cities are still implementing social distancing measures as per Directive 16. In order to strictly implement the directives of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Transport in the context of the complex developments of the Covid-19 pandemic nationwide, and to ensure the rights of customers, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires domestic airlines (Vietnam Airlines, VietjetAir, Bamboo Airways, Pacific Airlines, Vietravel Airlines) to suspend ticket sales on domestic routes until further notice.
The agency also requested airlines to refund passengers through the same payment channels used for domestic flights issued after July 21st until further notice.

Previously, on July 21st, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requested a minimum reduction in the number of commercial flights from Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces and cities implementing Directive 16 to Hanoi. Passenger flights between Can Tho, Phu Quoc and Hanoi and vice versa were suspended. For the Ho Chi Minh City-Hanoi route and vice versa, a maximum of two passenger flights per day were allowed, with Vietnam Airlines being responsible for operation.

For cargo flights, there are no restrictions. For flights aimed at disease prevention and control, or for official duties, airlines must submit plans to the relevant authority for review and resolution on a case-by-case basis. Other irregular flights are required and must be authorized by the competent authority.
