On the afternoon of April 21st, authorities from Ward 10 under the Da Lat City People's Committee conducted inspections of areas where dogs were being rented out for photo shoots at Lam Vien Square and Yersin Park (Tran Quoc Toan Street - along Xuan Huong Lake).
Here, residents were asked to bring their four large Alaskan Malamute dogs to the People's Committee of Ward 10. A report was filed documenting the initial violation of not muzzling the dogs when walking them in a public area. Other violations reported by tourists are also being investigated.
Tourists visiting the Xuan Huong Lake area (Da Lat) have complained about being "robbed" of their cherry blossom photography spots. The perpetrators have been using Alaskan Malamute dogs to "guard" the beautiful cherry blossom locations and charging tourists for taking photos there.
Authorities have identified the offenders as NQH (24 years old, from Hung Yen province) and L.D.D. (23 years old, from Vung Tau province).
Two dog owners in Da Lat were fined for renting out four Alaskan Malamute dogs for photo shoots without muzzles.
Following complaints, the Da Lat City People's Committee dispatched officials to identify the dog's owner and the time the dog was brought to public areas for photo shoots, in order to address the violation. The Da Lat City People's Committee stated that the business of taking photos with dogs in public areas has been going on for quite some time, similar to street vending, making enforcement difficult.
