With a score of 4.5, leading the country, this is also a locality with a high environmental sustainability index, good tourism transport infrastructure due to its accessibility by air. However, Da Nang still needs to improve its limitations on incidents and accidents for tourists, price competitiveness, satisfaction with tourist attractions, etc.
Along with Da Nang, four other localities listed in the top 5 of the Vietnam Tourism Competitiveness Index are Quang Ninh, Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue, respectively.

The project to develop a set of provincial tourism destination competitiveness indexes in Vietnam is funded by the EU Delegation and provides technical support to the Tourism Advisory Board (TAB), in coordination with the Private Economic Development Research Board (Board IV) since 2019. The project aims to promote the improvement of tourism competitiveness of each locality, thereby building a comprehensive orientation for the development of Vietnam's tourism economy in the future.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism - said that these indexes are also scientific measurement tools to help the General Department of Tourism have a comprehensive view of management work, and have effective solutions to support the tourism industry.
