At the online conference summarizing the project "Supporting the Tourism Advisory Council in building a Tourism Development Fund and enhancing destination competitiveness" held on the afternoon of January 18th, Mr. Kai Partale - EU project expert - stated that Da Nang topped the rankings thanks to its high scores in safety and security, readiness for information technology, and priority given to tourism and travel.

With a score of 4.5, leading the country, Da Nang also boasts a high environmental sustainability index and well-developed tourism infrastructure, particularly with good air travel access. However, Da Nang still needs to improve on shortcomings such as incidents and accidents involving tourists, price competitiveness, and customer satisfaction with attractions.
Along with Da Nang, the other four localities listed in the top 5 of Vietnam's Tourism Competitiveness Ranking are Quang Ninh, Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, and Thua Thien Hue.

The project to develop a set of indicators for the competitiveness of Vietnamese provincial tourism destinations is funded and technically supported by the EU Delegation to the Tourism Advisory Board (TAB), in collaboration with the Private Sector Development Research Board (Board IV), since 2019. The project aims to promote the enhancement of tourism competitiveness in each locality, thereby building a comprehensive development orientation for Vietnam's tourism economy in the future.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated that these indicators also serve as scientific measurement tools, helping the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism gain a comprehensive understanding of management practices and develop effective solutions to support the tourism industry.
