First Waterfall - A pristine gem hidden amidst the mountains and forests of Phu Yen

Le Quy Tai, founder of Xanh Camping, is one of the first people to include De Nhat Waterfall in the list of worthwhile nature experiences in Phu Yen. He learned about this place in 2018 through random photos online, but it wasn't until 2023, when he had enough experience and preparation, that he truly embarked on a journey of discovery.

The journey to the First Waterfall

With no clear signposts or established trails, the journey to the First Waterfall requires perseverance and a bit of daring. “We had a hard time finding our way because there was no one to give us detailed directions. The water is very deep here, and there have been many unfortunate accidents, so the locals are often hesitant to talk about it,” Tài shared.

From the starting point, visitors must trek through the forest for about 1km, overcoming rugged terrain, climbing over cliffs, and even swimming through deep water to reach the base of the waterfall. The arduous journey, however, reveals a magnificent and unprecedented natural landscape.

Upon arrival, visitors are immediately overwhelmed by the pristine and majestic beauty of this waterfall. “What impressed me most was the feeling of the waterfall cascading directly onto me. Thanks to a small pool of water inside, we could safely swim and play in the waterfall. The clear, cool water made all worries seem to disappear. Just standing before that scenery, I felt so relaxed that I was mesmerized and didn't want to leave,” Tài recounted.

In front of the waterfall is a large, heart-shaped lake, a natural masterpiece when viewed from above. Further in the distance, a series of infinity pools stretch out, creating a mystical and romantic atmosphere. Especially noteworthy is the sensation of tiny fish nibbling at your feet as you immerse yourself in the cool water – a moment that deeply connects you with nature.

Activities you can't miss.

Besides its beauty, De Nhat Waterfall is also a paradise for adventurous activities and relaxation amidst nature. "We often paddle around the heart-shaped lake on SUPs, slide down the waterfall, jump over the waterfall, even swim in the waterfall and let the fish give us a massage. It feels both adventurous and close to nature," Tai excitedly shared.

Another interesting aspect is the space's complete isolation from the outside world. With no phone signal and no city noise, it allows people to truly connect with each other. "We always aspire to be local guides, sharing local culture and stories with tourists. Furthermore, we want to help tourists have fun safely, connect with each other, and learn more about the natural beauty of this place," Tài shared.

Things to note when visiting De Nhat Thac (First Waterfall).

Stunning yet challenging, the First Waterfall is not a destination for everyone. According to Tài, this trek is best suited for those with good physical fitness, a passion for exploration, and aged between 6 and 35. For safety, visitors should always wear a life jacket when swimming, and bring swimwear and goggles for a better experience. Additionally, asking locals for information about water levels and routes will help you avoid unnecessary risks while exploring this pristine area.
