Even the name "Damanhur" has a profound meaning, taken from the name of an ancient temple in Egypt, meaning "City of Light", symbolizing enlightenment and wisdom.

Visitors can book a tour of Humankind through the shrine’s website. It is open most days of the week. A standard 3.5-hour tour costs 78 euros and a full-day tour costs 140 euros (prices may vary).
Tours include a guide (who is a member of the community) who will take visitors to explore the temples in the area and give a detailed presentation on the history of Damanhur. Some tours also include experiences such as meditation and art classes where visitors can create sculptures and paintings using clay.
