The resort in Anaheim, California, has just planned to welcome guests back on July 17 after a long period of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The company has not yet given a reopening date at the Disneyland resort.
"The company said the state of California has not announced guidelines for reopening theme parks until after July 4," the statement said. "It is time to bring our thousands of employees back to work and restart our business. However, we have no choice. The delay in reopening our theme parks and resort hotels will continue until we receive approval from government officials."
Disneyland has decided to delay its reopening date after Covid-19 cases continued to rise, especially in California.
Disney still has to continue negotiations before the parks can open. The company said the discussions have been positive for the upcoming reopening plans. "Once we have a better understanding of the company's guidelines, we can return Disney to normal operations," the statement said.
Disney World, the system's flagship resort in Florida, is also planning to reopen next month. Located in Orlando, Florida, Disney World plans to reopen its Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom parks on July 11 and will continue to reopen EPCOT and Hollywood Studios on July 15.
