With themes revolving around cuisine, nature, culture, and urban life, young Vietnamese people have recreated an impressive, cheerful, and vibrant image of Taiwan – a favorite destination for dynamic and creative young people.
Launched on October 18, 2022, the "Touching the Pulse of Taiwan" T-shirt Design Contest with OhBear attracted hundreds of thousands of interactions and received 70 valid entries. After two preliminary rounds and a voting round, as well as evaluation from professional judges, eight outstanding young people were selected and received support packages to produce their designs into promotional products for tourism.
The final round of the T-shirt Design Contest with OhBear, organized by the Taiwan Tourism Bureau in Vietnam, is a follow-up event to Taiwan's official reopening and restoration of its visa policy.
Mr. Derek Chou, Chief Representative of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau in Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City Office), interacted with each author and took commemorative photos at each exhibition space.
He shared: “Through this competition, I highly appreciate and am very impressed by the creative works that combine elements of Vietnamese and Taiwanese culture. I also hope that Vietnamese people can visit Taiwan to travel and experience it firsthand, as there are many other interesting places that we don't know about yet. In 2023, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau in Ho Chi Minh City will also strive to promote many interesting destinations and introduce the unique culture of Taiwan to Vietnamese people.”
Judge Ha Do - Creative Director of Dep Magazine - also expressed her delight with the OhBear bear's visual identity and how the contestants expressed their ideas, especially with designs that used minimalist, uncomplicated elements to create a harmonious and eye-catching overall picture.
Ultimately, three outstanding contestants emerged as the final winners of the competition, receiving valuable prizes such as laptops, design monitors, travel suitcases, and essential accessories for creative travelers.
The first prize went to Nguyen Xuan Quyen, a contestant who exceeded expectations with his concise presentation and nature-centered exhibition area. His unique work cleverly combined various scenic spots and endemic species of Taiwan, recreating a panoramic picture of ecotourism in Taiwan with the Wild Willow. Xuan Quyen said that with the top prize, an ASUS Duo Pro 14 laptop worth nearly 60 million VND, he can provide his wife with a good tool to support their family business.

One of the entries that also attracted the attention of the judges and guests was that of Nguyen Thi Phuong Hoa. The contestant deservedly received the Second Prize for her concise and persuasive presentation of her ideas. Inspired by the iconic cultural features of Taiwan, Phuong Hoa created a visually multicultural portrayal, from the red train to Alishan Mountain to the sky lantern festival, a scene deeply familiar to those who love this land.
Finally, the third prize was officially awarded to Hoang Minh Thu, a student from Hoa Sen University. Inspired by the word "Rhythm" in the competition prompt, Minh Thu meticulously developed a "guidebook" on Taiwanese cuisine, recreating famous dishes from restaurants to humble eateries and night markets.
