Starting the second day of the journey, members of the Amazing Tour 8 "Returning to the land of white rice and clear water" group had the opportunity to visit Thuan Hung craft village and experience making rice paper - an intangible cultural heritage.

With an age of more than 200 years, Thuan Hung rice paper craft village is located in Thot Not district, about 40 km from the center of Can Tho city. As soon as they arrived at the village gate, the members of Amazing Tour 8 could smell the distinctive aroma of smoke and coconut powder. In particular, the scene that appeared before the eyes of the group was the image of rice paper trays being dried evenly and straightly.

Thuan Hung rice paper making is a traditional craft, formed in the mid-19th century and passed down through many generations.

During the journey to discover the land of Tay Do, Amazing Tour 8 group not only enjoyed the traditional cakes, but also received the secret tips from the village's keepers to experience making rice paper. The delicious cakes were made by hand by the people of Thuan Hung, instructing the members.

Just like a work of art that requires a lot of creativity, when making rice paper, you have to adjust the amount of flour to suit, you have to measure it with a ladle. After being ground, the rice flour is poured onto a mosquito net stretched over a pot. To make the rice paper delicious, thin and not broken, you need to ensure a low heat and spread the rice paper evenly and quickly. The rice paper is steamed with steam for about 15 seconds to cook.

Actor Quoc Truong excitedly said: "When the rice paper is spread out to dry, it is extremely thin. I really enjoyed this experience because I created the thin rice paper myself and learned more about the more than 200-year-old traditional profession of the people here."

The process of taking the cake is also very important, requiring coordination between the person spreading and taking the cake. After spreading, the cake will be thin and wet, so it is easy to tear. Therefore, the person taking the cake needs to be skillful and gentle: one hand holding the cake and the other lifting the cake to place it on the tray.

During his hands-on experience making rice paper, travel blogger Vinh Gau shared: "The first step is to pour the rice flour onto the cloth over the pot of water, which is difficult because it requires meticulousness and quickness. Next, when the rice paper is cooked, it also requires dexterity because during the process, I tore about two of them."

Normally, villagers will dry the cakes depending on the weather. At the same time, they need to dry the cakes in a way that does not warp and keeps the cakes intact. If the cakes are dried on a sunny day, they will dry after about 30 minutes, but if they are dried for too long, they will easily break. When the cakes are dry enough, they will be taken out and arranged in sections.

Through the experience, members of Amazing Tour 8 partly understood the unique cultural features of the people of the Mekong Delta in general and the process of preserving the ancient flavor of Thuan Hung rice paper village in particular.

"As someone who loves eating rice paper, today Vinh saw that to have a delicious rice paper requires a lot of steps and effort from the baker. That makes me appreciate the rice paper I have eaten more. Perhaps from now on, Vinh will never throw away the leftover rice paper I have dipped in it again," Travel Blogger Vinh Gau confided.
