From May 20, 2024, cruise ships at the Han River port will temporarily cease operations to facilitate dismantling and handover of the site. The Han River cruise ships will be relocated to the Central Region Oil Spill Response Center (formerly Thu River Port). After the infrastructure and equipment are installed at the new location, the cruise ships will resume passenger pick-up and drop-off there.
The Han River port area – where cruise ships are moored – is the location for the fireworks display. The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2024 takes place from June 8th to July 13th at the Han River port (the firing area) and the sidewalk of Tran Hung Dao Street on the opposite side of the east bank of the Han River (the main viewing area and stage). Therefore, the fireworks display is held right at the Han River port – the mooring point for the cruise ships. Consequently, the cruise ships must relocate during the fireworks display to make way for the preparation and performance.

The City People's Committee also requested Song Thu Corporation to supplement and complete the technical infrastructure, relocate the floating bridge and moored boats at the current pier, clear the area and unblock the channel to ensure safe entry and exit of boats at the pier.
It is understood that the Song Han port area will be handed over to serve DIFF 2024 from May 22nd to July 22nd.
During this period, the Border Guard Command and the City Police strictly controlled passenger transport activities; increased patrols, and deployed officers and soldiers on tourist boats to support security, order, and traffic safety.
