Summer is always a peak business season for travel companies due to the high demand for tourism and leisure activities. Currently, these companies are busy launching new products, including both domestic and international tours, enhancing the travel experience with attractive price offers.
Summer travel trends in 2024 are expected to change significantly due to Vietnam's challenging economic situation and the impact on the aviation industry. Tourists will still prioritize domestic travel in 2024, due to concerns about health and security, as well as the high cost of international airfare.
In the tourism industry, especially for air travel tours, travel companies often proactively secure fixed-price ticket bookings well in advance, sometimes even a year beforehand. Instead of finalizing specific flight dates for customers, they usually advise clients to choose a tentative departure timeframe and then flexibly search for the best-priced flight dates within that timeframe.
With rising domestic airfares, many tourists are opting for international travel.
Regarding tour prices, many companies reported that for domestic tourism, road tours saw only a slight increase of 5-10% compared to the same period in 2023. For air travel tours, due to the impact of airfare prices, prices increased by 20-30% depending on the destination.
Tour packages to distant markets, such as tours to Northern Vietnam or tours to Central Vietnam (Da Nang, Hue), are currently experiencing the sharpest price increases, around 30%.
For overseas travel, especially to familiar Asian destinations such as Japan, South Korea, China, and Thailand, or longer trips to Europe, Australia, and the USA, itineraries of 5-12 days are attracting tourists and are very suitable for the summer season.
The domestic group tour market, dominating in terms of customer numbers, is expected to welcome thousands of tourists traveling by car to destinations such as Ho Chi Minh City - Phan Thiet, Vung Tau, Da Lat, Nha Trang, Tuy Hoa, Quy Nhon, Hanoi - Ha Long, Sam Son, Ninh Binh, etc.
