On January 4th, the Da Nang City People's Committee announced that the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) will continue to be held in June and July 2024. Accordingly, the venues for DIFF 2024 will include the Han River port area (fireworks display area) and the sidewalk area of Tran Hung Dao Street (for artistic performances).
DIFF 2024 is expected to have 8 participating teams, including 7 international teams: France, Italy, the USA, Germany, Poland, China, Finland, and the Da Nang team - Vietnam. Among them are 3 newcomers from the USA, Germany, and China, participating and competing for the first time.
Da Nang's fireworks festival will return in the summer of 2024.
This year's event will consist of five competition nights, including four qualifying rounds and a final night. The opening night is scheduled for the evening of June 8th, with subsequent fireworks displays held every Saturday night in the following weeks (with a one-week break before the final night). The DIFF 2024 final night is expected to take place on July 13th.
Each night of the competition, teams will have 20 minutes to perform fireworks displays based on a theme agreed upon by the Organizing Committee. The overall theme for DIFF 2024 is still being selected, but city leaders emphasize that DIFF 2024 will aim to convey the message of a peaceful, just, harmonious, and humane society.
2024 will mark the 12th year that DIFF has been held in Da Nang. Prior to that, DIFF 2023 created a boost for Da Nang's tourism industry, leading to a spectacular recovery after Covid-19 with growth figures exceeding expectations.
The return of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival marks a significant step in positioning this beautiful coastal city on the international tourism map. DIFF 2024 is expected to continue to be a highlight event, offering a lavish "summer feast" that attracts tourists from all over to the city on the Han River, contributing to making the city a global hub and a "leading event and festival destination in Asia," as it has been twice honored by the World Travel Awards.
