Accordingly, the Vietnam Railway Transport Joint Stock Company has announced that, starting from March 24th, the online and in-station ticket sales system nationwide will officially open for the key Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway line, applicable to trains departing between May 15th and August 15th. This creates opportunities for convenient and economical travel for passengers during the Summer of 2025.
The Saigon Railway Transport Branch also announced plans to increase special passenger train services to meet the high demand for travel during the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day holiday. Accordingly, during the peak days of the holiday, the railway will operate many additional trains from Ho Chi Minh City to popular tourist destinations such as Phan Thiet, Nha Trang, Quy Nhon and vice versa, creating favorable conditions for people and tourists to have meaningful and memorable trips.
Railways began selling train tickets for the North-South route from March 24th with many attractive discounts to serve passengers traveling during the summer.
Specifically, on the Ho Chi Minh City - Quy Nhon route, the railway will add the SE30 train, departing from Saigon Station on April 4th at 5:50 PM and arriving at Quy Nhon Station at 8:05 AM the following morning. In the opposite direction, the SE29 train will depart from Quy Nhon Station on April 7th at 3:30 PM and arrive at Saigon Station at 6:20 AM. Ticket prices for soft seats range from 756,000 to 776,000 VND per ticket per trip, while soft sleeper tickets range from 853,000 to 1,310,000 VND per ticket per trip, depending on the seat type and booking time.
For the Ho Chi Minh City - Nha Trang route, the railway will add an extra train, SNT4, departing from Saigon Station on April 4th at 9:45 PM and arriving at Nha Trang Station at 6:25 AM the following morning. In the opposite direction, train SNT5 will depart from Nha Trang Station on April 7th at 12:15 PM and arrive at Saigon Station at 9:38 PM. Ticket prices for soft seats range from 570,000 to 654,000 VND per ticket per trip, while sleeper tickets range from 760,000 to 1,137,000 VND per ticket per trip.
Between Ho Chi Minh City and Phan Thiet, an additional train, SPT4, will depart from Saigon Station on April 5th at 8:00 AM and arrive at Phan Thiet Station at 12:20 PM. Train SPT3 will depart from Phan Thiet Station on April 7th at 2:20 PM and arrive at Saigon Station at 6:50 PM. The price for a soft seat ticket is 279,000 - 289,000 VND/ticket/one-way, and the price for a sleeper ticket is 304,000 - 365,000 VND/ticket/one-way.
During the summer, the railway implements various ticket discount policies.
Besides increasing train services, the railway industry continues to apply regular discount policies for social policy beneficiaries, including Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, war invalids, seriously ill soldiers, people with disabilities, children, students, and trade union members. This demonstrates the railway industry's concern and priority for those in special circumstances, while also encouraging them to use public transportation.
To encourage passengers to choose rail travel, especially during the peak summer season, Vietnam Railways Corporation has implemented a series of attractive ticket discount policies. Specifically, passengers purchasing round-trip tickets will receive a 5% discount on the return fare, applicable immediately at the time of purchase. For group travelers purchasing tickets for 20 or more people, the discount ranges from 3% to 9% depending on the number of people and the time of purchase. If tickets are purchased between 1 and 19 days before departure, the group discount will be from 3% to 7%. In the case of purchasing tickets 20 days or more in advance, the discount will increase to 5% to 9%.
The Vietnam Railway Transport Joint Stock Company also noted that passengers who buy tickets close to the departure date (2 days or less before the train departs) will see a 5-7% price increase.
For individual ticket buyers, those planning to travel well in advance will benefit from special discounts. A 5% discount will be applied to tickets purchased between 20 and 39 days before departure. This discount increases to 10% for tickets purchased 40 days or more in advance. However, passengers should note that the number of tickets eligible for these discounts is limited per train and does not apply to 4-berth compartments on trains SE3, SNT1/SNT2, and SPT1/SPT2.
Furthermore, the Vietnam Railway Transport Joint Stock Company also issued a warning about potential price increases for passengers purchasing tickets at the last minute. Specifically, if tickets are purchased just two days before departure, prices will increase by 5% to 7%. Therefore, passengers should proactively plan and purchase tickets early to secure their preferred seats and save costs.
