Amidst the hustle and bustle of life, sometimes we need to be comforted by warm, simple stories about love, family, and connection. The documentary "My Dearest Fu Bao" offers viewers such an emotional journey. More than just a story about an adorable panda, the film is a testament to the deep bond between humans and animals, leaving viewers deeply moved and prompting reflection on the precious things in life.
Born at Everland Park in South Korea in 2020, Fu Bao was the first giant panda born in the country through natural mating. The tiny panda thus became a symbol of the Sino-Korean cooperation in animal conservation. With her chubby appearance and adorable antics, "Princess" Fu Bao quickly captured the hearts of millions of tourists in Korea and around the world, taking social media by storm globally.
At Everland, Fu Bao's two main caregivers are Mr. Kang Cheol Won and Mr. Song Young Kwan. They not only take meticulous care of the "princess," but also genuinely shower Fu Bao with affection, treating her like their granddaughter. They frequently give Fu Bao toys, plant flowers for her to admire, gather autumn leaves for her to play with, and even create a small snowy world so she can experience winter...
Fu Bao is an adorable chubby baby.
The film "Fu Bao – Grandpa's Precious Baby" tells the story of Fu Bao's journey from birth until his return to China in April 2024, under an animal conservation agreement between South Korea and China. During this journey, viewers witness Fu Bao's final three months in South Korea, an emotional time as everyone prepares to say goodbye to the panda who has become an integral part of their lives.
In "Fu Bao – Grandpa's Treasure," directors Shim Hyung Joon and Thomas Ko skillfully blend live-action footage with colorful and heartwarming animation. The animation not only tells the story of Fu Bao's parents – the pandas Le Bao and Ai Bao – but also takes viewers back to Fu Bao's early life, from birth to becoming a national phenomenon. Viewers feel as if they are accompanying Fu Bao on his journey of over 1,000 days in Korea; experiencing the joy, the excitement, and even the heartbreaking moments of separation.
What makes "Fu Bao – My Precious Treasure" so captivating is its powerful message of love and hope. As Kang Cheol Won shared in the drama, caring for Fu Bao wasn't just a job, but an emotional journey where he found comfort, connection, and hope. He hoped that Fu Bao's story would help viewers re-evaluate the value of family and the deep bond between humans and animals.
The film also captures the touching moment when Kang Cheol Won visits the Wolong Shenshuping Nature Reserve in Sichuan Province, China, to reunite with Fu Bao after the panda was brought there. Although no longer Fu Bao's caretaker, "Mr." Kang remains concerned about the panda, especially about the stress Fu Bao experienced during transport and quarantine.
Fu Bao was loved and pampered by him.
Following its resounding box office success in South Korea, "Fu Bao – Grandpa's Treasure" will officially be released to Vietnamese audiences from October 11, 2024. The film is expected to be screened in major theaters nationwide such as CGV, Lotte Cinema, and many other theater chains, in 2D format suitable for all ages. With a running time of 95 minutes, the film promises to provide emotional and memorable entertainment for the whole family.
