Recently, according to statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the total number of passengers passing through airports across the country has reached an impressive figure of approximately 3.6 million, including passengers on transit and connecting flights. Compared to the same period of the Lunar New Year last year, the number of passengers this year has grown spectacularly, exceeding 16%.

At airports, there was a significant increase in passenger traffic compared to the previous year. Specifically, Tan Son Nhat Airport, the country's largest air gateway, served approximately 1.38 million passengers, an increase of 7.6% over the same period last year. Noi Bai Airport, the aviation hub of the Northern region, also witnessed impressive growth with approximately 900,000 passengers, equivalent to an increase of 12%.

In the Central region, Da Nang airport, one of Vietnam's attractive tourist destinations, recorded the highest growth among key airports, reaching more than 381,000 passengers, an increase of 26% compared to 2024.

In total, about 3.6 million passengers traveled through the airports, marking a 16% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

The record day was January 24 (December 25), Tan Son Nhat Airport operated 1,002 take-offs and landings (up 10% compared to the same period in 2024), with 152,000 passengers (up 13% compared to the same period in 2024). This level of exploitation is also higher than that of Lunar New Year 2020.

This growth was not limited to a single passenger segment. Both international and domestic passengers recorded a significant increase. Specifically, the number of international passengers reached 1.35 million, up 23% compared to the previous year, showing the attractiveness of Vietnam tourism to international visitors. Meanwhile, domestic passenger transport also increased by 12%, reaching 1.14 million, reflecting the need for travel and family reunions of people during Tet.

In particular, Vietnamese airlines have made an important contribution to this growth. With more than 1.67 million passengers transported (up 12.8% compared to the same period in 2024), Vietnamese airlines have affirmed their leading role in the market. In addition, airlines also transported nearly 7,000 tons of cargo, up 4% over the previous year, demonstrating the contribution of the aviation industry to the country's trade activities.
