On July 14, the People's Committee of An Son Commune, Kien Hai District, Kien Giang Province informed that due to bad weather, the high-speed boat from Rach Gia City to Nam Du has temporarily stopped running for two consecutive days (July 13 and 14). About 700 tourists were stranded on the island in An Son Commune.
Currently, tourists stranded on the island are being supported by the island's motel owners with food, room rates, and 50% discounts on car rentals. Depending on the weather, boats will take tourists back to the mainland.
The ferry from Rach Gia to Phu Quoc and Nam Du is currently suspended due to bad weather.
Previously, ferries from Rach Gia, Ha Tien to Phu Quoc, Nam Du were temporarily suspended due to bad weather. According to the Hydrometeorological Station of Kien Giang province, due to the influence of a tropical depression in the East Sea, some coastal provinces and cities have had rain and thunderstorms for many days.
Thanks to its many clear blue beaches and peaceful beauty, this archipelago is one of the most visited destinations in the South.
In Phu Quoc city alone, on the morning of July 14, there was very heavy rain. Authorities also focused on evacuating and rescuing people and property at deeply flooded areas to safety.
The area of Cay Thong Trong intersection – Cua Duong – Duong Dong bypass, Ben Tram hamlet, Cay Thong Ngoai hamlet, Ganh Gio was flooded due to the impact of heavy rain. The area of Cay Thong Trong intersection is considered one of the black spots of flooding every time it rains heavily, causing difficulties for people to travel. In some places, water flooded into people’s houses, rented rooms….
In Phu Quoc, the rain is concentrated at night and in the morning, with some places experiencing moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there are strong gusts of wind at level 7 and 8, and southwest winds at level 4 and 5. Wave height is from 0.75 to 2 m, with the sea being slightly rough at times.
With blue sea, golden sand, warm sunshine, wild and wonderful nature, Nam Du archipelago (Kien Hai) attracts many tourists to visit, especially on weekends. Nam Du archipelago includes 2 communes An Son and Nam Du with 21 large and small islands, about 100km west of Rach Gia city.
