Reporting at the meeting of the Organizing Committee for the 70th Anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), the Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Do Dinh Hong, stated that the organizing committee had reported to the Standing Committee of the Hanoi City Party Committee for consideration and decision to suspend or adjust the scale and timing of the activities due to the impact of Typhoon No. 3, which caused significant damage to several northern provinces and cities, including Hanoi.
Due to the severe damage caused by storms and floods, Hanoi has decided to adjust its plans for the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital. Specifically, the city has temporarily suspended eight major activities, including canceling the drone light show and fireworks displays at 30 locations.
The Standing Committee of the Hanoi City Party Committee has reviewed and decided to suspend, adjust the scale and timing of activities commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi.
This decision aims to focus resources and funding on disaster relief efforts and support affected people in stabilizing their lives. At the same time, this adjustment also helps save budget costs and contributes to post-disaster economic recovery.
The capital city also ensured the necessary infrastructure, equipment, and security conditions to successfully organize the "Cultural Festival for Peace" commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi and the 25th anniversary of Hanoi being honored as a "City for Peace".
The drone demonstration is the most anticipated activity among visitors in the series of celebratory events.
In addition, the national-level commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi was held on the morning of October 10th at the National Convention Center with approximately 3,000 delegates in attendance. The Hanoi People's Committee has drafted a plan for the national-level commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi; finalizing the draft plan to submit to the City Party Committee for reporting to the Central Propaganda Department, the Standing Committee of the Party Central Committee, and the National Steering Committee for commemorating major holidays in the three years 2022-2025.
Many other commemorative activities were also suspended during this period.
At the meeting, Mr. Tran Sy Thanh, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, emphasized the importance of information and communication work during the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi. He requested that news agencies and media outlets intensify the dissemination and promotion of historical values and the great sacrifices of the Party Committee, government, military, and people of Hanoi in the resistance war against the French, contributing to the liberation of the capital. At the same time, it is necessary to further clarify Hanoi's role as a political and cultural center of the country, as well as an attractive tourist destination.
