Hanoi makes a last-minute change of plans; which provinces and cities will have fireworks displays for New Year's Day 2023?

The New Year's Day holiday in 2023 will begin on Saturday (December 31, 2022) and end on Monday (January 2, 2023).

This year, Hanoi has confirmed that it will not be holding fireworks displays for New Year's Day 2023. On the afternoon of December 30th, some reports claiming that Hanoi would hold fireworks displays in many locations for New Year's Day 2023 were inaccurate. Accordingly, Hanoi will only hold fireworks displays for the Lunar New Year (Year of the Rabbit) 2023 in 30 districts and towns, with 31 firing points, including two high-altitude firing points in Hoan Kiem District.

Regarding the 2023 New Year's Day celebrations, the Hoan Kiem District Police are implementing a plan to ensure security and order for the Countdown event to welcome the new year 2023 and the Vietnam International Half Marathon 2023, which will take place around Hoan Kiem Lake in the early morning of January 1, 2023.

Below are the locations for New Year's Eve fireworks displays in various provinces and cities in 2023:

Ho Chi Minh City

For New Year's Day 2023, Ho Chi Minh City will have a 15-minute fireworks display at two locations: Dam Sen Cultural Park (District 11) with low-altitude fireworks and the entrance to the Saigon River Tunnel (Thu Duc City) with high-altitude fireworks. The display will take place from 0:00 to 0:15 on January 1, 2023.

As part of the New Year's Eve celebrations for 2023, Ho Chi Minh City plans to hold a countdown event on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street (the section between Ngo Duc Ke and Nguyen Thiep streets) and Le Duan street (from Nam Ky Khoi Nghia street to Pasteur street). The countdown event to welcome 2023 will start at 5:30 PM on December 31st and end at 12:30 AM on January 1st, 2023.

Hue

The Countdown - New Year's Eve 2023 art program will take place from 7 PM on December 31, 2022 to 12:20 AM on January 1, 2023 at Hung Vuong Intersection, Hue City. This art program is organized in the form of a grand music festival combining electronic dance music (EDM) to welcome the new year.

In addition to the special programs, Hue City will organize a low-altitude fireworks display at the Countdown - New Year's Eve 2023 event. This is a comprehensive art program concluding the series of events of Hue Festival 2022, welcoming Hue Festival 2023. This includes the Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023 organized by the Hue People's Committee from April 28 to May 5, 2023.

Da Nang

Da Nang is the most livable city in Vietnam and an attractive tourist destination for the 2023 New Year holiday. Da Nang tourism will captivate visitors with its spectacular fireworks displays, stunning tourist attractions, and delicious food paradise.

This year, Da Nang will hold New Year's Eve fireworks displays at the Hoa Vang District Administrative Center and Nguyen Van Troi Bridge.

Khanh Hoa

Instead of holding a fireworks display at 2/4 Square as in previous years, for the 2023 New Year's Day celebration, Khanh Hoa province chose to hold a low-altitude fireworks display lasting 15 minutes at 00:00 on January 1, 2023. The fireworks display will take place on a barge at sea, 500 meters west of Hon Tre Island, in Vinh Nguyen ward, Nha Trang city.

This event aims to welcome the new year 2023. It also contributes to early-year tourism activities, further promoting and stimulating tourism in Khanh Hoa province after the Covid-19 pandemic has been brought under control, and improving the spiritual well-being of the people.

Lam Dong

Da Lat (Lam Dong province) will have two fireworks displays this year. The fireworks shows will be held at Lam Vien Square, Da Lat.

The fireworks schedule in Da Lat is as follows: The announcement of the Da Lat Flower Festival will take place on the evening of December 18, 2022; the New Year's Eve 2023 fireworks display will be held at 00:00 on January 1, 2023. Both displays will last 15 minutes and will be launched at a low altitude.
