Ho Chi Minh City bans vehicles on many roads on the night of December 31st for fireworks display.

Central streets in Ho Chi Minh City were closed to traffic on the evening of December 31st to celebrate the New Year 2023, allowing people to enjoy themselves and watch fireworks.

Ho Chi Minh City will have fireworks displays from 0:00 to 0:15 on January 1, 2023, at two locations: the entrance to the Saigon River tunnel (Thu Duc City) and Dam Sen Cultural Park (District 11). The fireworks display at the tunnel will be combined with an artistic program to welcome the new year.

To ensure safety and to facilitate public enjoyment, from 6 PM on December 31st to 12:30 AM on January 1st, 2023, vehicles will be prohibited from entering Nguyen Hue Street and its access ramps. The alternative route, from District 4 to District 1, is as follows: Nguyen Tat Thanh Street - Hoang Dieu Street - Doan Van Bo Street - Calmette Bridge - Calmette Street - Tran Hung Dao Street - Pham Ngu Lao Street - Quach Thi Trang Square - Le Loi Street - Pasteur Street - Ly Tu Trong Street - Ton Duc Thang Street.

In the opposite direction from District 1 to District 4, vehicles can follow this route: Ton Duc Thang Street - Me Linh Square - Hai Ba Trung Street - Le Thanh Ton Street - Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street - Nguyen Thai Binh Street (or Nguyen Cong Tru Street) - Calmette Street - Calmette Bridge - Doan Van Bo Street - Hoang Dieu Street - Nguyen Tat Thanh Street.

Alternative route from District 1 to Thu Duc City: Vo Van Kiet Street - parallel road - Pasteur Street - Ly Tu Trong Street - Ton Duc Thang Street - Nguyen Huu Canh Street - Thu Thiem Bridge - Nguyen Co Thach Street - Mai Chi Tho Street. In the opposite direction, vehicles from Thu Duc to District 1 can follow this route: Mai Chi Tho Street - Nguyen Co Thach Street - Thu Thiem Bridge - Nguyen Huu Canh Street - Ton Duc Thang Street - Le Duan Street - Cong Xa Paris Street - Han Thuyen Street - Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street - Vo Van Kiet Street.

From 8 PM on December 31st to midnight on January 1st, 2023, vehicles will be prohibited from entering seven streets in District 1, including: Ton Duc Thang (from Me Linh Square to Khanh Hoi Bridge), Dong Khoi (from Mac Thi Buoi Street to Ton Duc Thang Street); Hai Trieu (from Ho Tung Mau to Nguyen Hue Street); Ham Nghi and Vo Van Kiet (from Ho Tung Mau to Ton Duc Thang Street); Ho Huan Nghiep and Ngo Duc Ke (from Me Linh Square to Dong Khoi Street).

District 4 has two routes closed to traffic during this period: Nguyen Tat Thanh Street (from Hoang Dieu Street to Khanh Hoi Bridge) and Ben Van Don Street (from Nguyen Truong To Street to Nguyen Tat Thanh Street). Vehicles are also prohibited from crossing Thu Thiem 2 Bridge, which connects Thu Duc City to District 1.

The Department of Transportation advises people not to stop, park, or gather on the following bridges to watch the fireworks: Khánh Hội, Móng, Calmete, Ông Lãnh, Thủ Thiêm, Thủ Thiêm 2, Sài Gòn, Phú Mỹ, bridges on Mai Chí Thọ road, and on top of the Thủ Thiêm tunnel.
