The Hanoi Department of Tourism organized a meeting to discuss hotel stimulus programs and communication activities for the "Hanoi residents and tourists experience services at 4-5 star hotels in Hanoi" stimulus program in 2024.
According to information from the Hanoi Department of Tourism, Hanoi currently has 3,760 accommodation establishments with 71,246 rooms. Specifically, there are 607 hotels and apartment complexes rated from 1 to 5 stars, with a total of 26,641 rooms. Since the beginning of the year, the number of tourists visiting and staying in Hanoi has increased. Specifically, in May 2024, the average room occupancy rate for hotels reached 64.7%, an increase of 1.0% compared to the same period in 2023.
Hanoi stimulates tourism ahead of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the capital city.
In the first six months of the year, the average hotel occupancy rate is expected to reach 63.9%, an increase of 2.8% compared to the same period in 2023. Several 4-5 star hotels in central Hanoi, such as Melia, Sheraton, Hilton Opera, etc., have welcomed many business groups participating in MICE tourism.
To attract tourists during the summer and autumn of 2024 and the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi (October 10th), the Hanoi Department of Tourism is organizing a promotional program for Hanoi residents and tourists to experience services at 4-5 star hotels in the capital city.
Many 5-star hotels are offering discounts in support of the campaign.
In response to the tourism stimulus program aimed at attracting visitors, 4-5 star hotels in Hanoi have introduced many preferential policies and service packages to stimulate tourism, including: preferential pricing policies; tourism stimulus packages such as accommodation-meal/dinner/tea party-gala combos; accommodation-conference-transportation combos; food/drink-swimming combos; discount vouchers for services, etc.
This is the first time the Hanoi Department of Tourism has organized this stimulus program, and it has received a positive response from numerous 4-5 star hotels, travel agencies, transportation companies, and destinations in the capital city.
The Department of Tourism also guides and encourages hotels and travel agencies to participate in the program to develop attractive service packages, attracting Hanoi residents, domestic and international tourists to stay and experience the city. This will enhance the promotion of the image and brand of hotels in the city, while increasing the occupancy rate of tourist accommodations, especially during off-peak seasons.
The Department connects travel and transportation service businesses with hotels and destinations to develop attractive and highly competitive tourism packages that attract a large number of Hanoi residents and tourists to experience.
Typical examples include the "Summer Indulgence Staycation" package from Hotel de l'Opera Hanoi; the "City Holiday" and "Luxury Afternoon Tea" packages from Sofitel Legend Metropole; and the "Fun Summer Holiday" package from Movenpick Living West Hanoi, etc.
Although hotels have offered discounted room rates, tourism experts believe that to attract tourists, Hanoi needs more experiential tourism products in addition to discounts, thereby encouraging visitors to stay longer.
Hanoi is aiming to develop tourism in a high-quality, branded manner, deeply rooted in national cultural identity, transforming the city into a major cultural and tourism center with a strong brand, high competitiveness, and a level of development comparable to that of capitals in developed countries in the region and around the world.
