In the Miss World 2006 final, Mai Phuong Thuy ultimately reached the top 17 and was voted the most popular contestant (most voted for) in the Asia-Pacific region. Thanks to her semi-finalist position at Miss World 2006, Vietnam's ranking rose 15 places, from 65th to 49th, on the Globalbeauties Grand Slam ranking.

The Miss World Vietnam 2019 competition consists of two preliminary rounds: June 1st in Ho Chi Minh City for the Southern region and June 28th in Hanoi for the Northern region. The Southern regional final will take place on June 22nd at the Hoa Binh Theater, Ho Chi Minh City; the Northern regional final will be held on July 7th in Tuan Chau, Quang Ninh. Notably, the Grand Final will be held at Cocobay Da Nang on August 3rd.
