First held in Vietnam in 2014, the Miss Ocean contest attracted hundreds of contestants from all over the country. After many rounds of selection, Can Tho student Dang Thu Thao (born in 1995) won the title of Miss. The first runner-up title belonged to the beauty born in 1992, from Hue City - Le Thi Ha Thu and the second runner-up was awarded to Le Thi Van Quynh, born in 1993, from Hanoi. In parallel with finding an ambassador for the projectBlue Ocean World– Founded by the Vietnam Environment Protection Fund (under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment) and Vo Viet Chung LLC, the contest is also a place to launch, organize and guide Vietnamese youth into practical and meaningful activities to protect the marine environment along with humanitarian initiatives and projects for the community.
Following that success, under the direction of the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan, the Miss Ocean 2017 contest will officially recruit from 1/4 to 1/9 to select outstanding faces to compete in the semi-finals and finals in Phan Thiet. The final night is expected to be held on the night of October 27, broadcast live on VTV9 - Vietnam Television to find the highest positions of the contest. Besides the subsidiary prizes for talented contestants, ao dai, bikini, photogenic, blue sea... the Organizing Committee and the Jury will find the worthy owners of the titles of 2nd and 1st runner-up and Miss. Miss Ocean 2017 will receive a crown worth 3.2 billion VND made from Royal Pearl, cash and gifts worth 600 million VND and many valuable gifts.

In recent years, the problem of marine pollution has become more alarming than ever with a series of serious incidents being discovered. The safety of the ocean is being encroached upon, many marine species are at risk of extinction due to indiscriminate fishing and waste discharge by humans, which is a common concern of the whole society. Therefore, the role and mission of Miss Ocean is even more important and has special significance in this period. Through a series of activities throughout the contest, the organizers hope to call on the community, especially the young generation, to raise awareness of environmental protection, maintain the balance of the ecosystem and inspire the whole community with the most practical actions. This is also the difference between Miss Ocean and other beauty contests in Vietnam today.
Representative of the organizing unit, designer Vo Viet Chung said that the 2017 Miss Ocean contest will be professionally organized according to the regulations set forth by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to find a worthy face representing beauty, intelligence and having the most effective projects in protecting the marine and ocean environment.
Under the direction of Henri Hubert - who has 35 years of experience in fashion in many countries, the rounds of Miss Ocean 2017 will bring many new and unique things, with the stature of many international beauty contests. - High school graduate or higher
