According to data from the Department of Culture and Information of Moc Chau town, from the third day of Tet (January 31, 2025) to February 17, the locality welcomed more than 250,000 visitors to visit and experience the plum blossom season. On average, Moc Chau welcomes about 10,000 visitors per day, this number doubles on weekends. It is expected that by the end of February, the total number of visitors can reach 1 million, bringing in an estimated revenue of about 1,200 billion VND.
This year, the plum blossom season in Moc Chau has witnessed a wonderful phenomenon when the flowers bloom with a rare beauty, much more outstanding than previous years. This splendid beauty has created a strong attraction, urging tourists from everywhere to come to admire and enjoy. A tourist garden owner said that the number of visitors this year is much higher than previous years thanks to the most beautiful plum blossoms in many years.
Son La - Moc Chau is in the season of plum blossoms blooming, attracting tourists from all over the world, accommodation facilities are always "full"
The plum blossoms have created a positive domino effect, leading to a significant increase in the number of tourists. This year's number of visitors has increased dramatically compared to previous years, bringing huge revenue to the local tourism industry. Tourist gardens, homestays and other tourism services have all benefited from this plum blossom "fever".
It is known that the entrance fee to the flower garden is maintained at 30,000 VND/adult, free for children, and the price of homestay rooms ranges from 600,000 - 800,000 VND/night. Every day, the garden welcomes nearly 1,000 guests. During the two peak weeks, revenue reaches 300 - 500 million VND.
This is the time when plum blossoms are at their most beautiful in the year, making Moc Chau the most attractive destination in the Northern region.
However, the large number of tourists has led to traffic jams and congestion on small roads, rest stops and in the central area of Moc Chau. On tourism forums, many tourists have shared their difficult experiences when finding hotel rooms. Some local households have taken advantage of their private homes to operate accommodation services, helping to reduce the overload of accommodation.
Moc Chau town has about 300 tourist accommodation establishments such as hotels, motels, homestays. Therefore, this number is not enough to serve the surge in visitors compared to the same period last year. All accommodation establishments are operating at full capacity, reaching a 100% occupancy rate. Even on weekdays, there are not many vacant rooms and some places accept reservations for guests until the end of February.
This year's plum blossom season, whether it's weekdays or weekends, room bookings at accommodation establishments are still full.
Due to the overload of demand for accommodation during the peak season, under the encouragement of Moc Chau town authorities to "not let guests lack accommodation in the cold weather", on Moc Chau tourism groups, many local people are willing to invite guests to stay at their homes for free. Most of the accommodation facilities are equipped with heating lamps.
Although this year saw a 50% increase in the number of visitors compared to the same period last year, the owner of a homestay in the 3rd level subdivision of Moc Chau farm town affirmed that he did not increase prices based on the peak season. The previously listed price remains the same.
Plum blossom season is also the peak season of Moc Chau tourism in the year.
Faced with the sudden increase in the number of visitors, Moc Chau town authorities recommend that tourists book rooms before departure. At the same time, the locality is coordinating with tourism agencies to update the plum blossom situation and accommodation facilities, ensuring timely information is provided to tourists. In addition, households with vacant rooms are also encouraged to participate in accommodation services if they meet safety and quality conditions.
The plum blossom season in Moc Chau will continue for a short time, promising to attract more tourists to experience the poetic beauty of the Northwest highlands.
