But this most dangerous island in the world is terrifying in a different way.
Deep within the mangrove forests of Ramree Island (Myanmar) lie the island's most ferocious "natives"—saltwater crocodiles, which can weigh up to 1 ton and measure up to 7 meters in length, making them the largest of all crocodile species, according to National Geographic.

In 1945, the British army cornered a regiment of Japanese soldiers in the jungle on Ramree Island. Only half of the 1,000 soldiers managed to cross to the other side of the swamp; the rest were devoured by crocodiles.
The Ramree Swamp Massacre was recognized by the Guinness Book of Records in 1965 as: "The highest number of casualties in a crocodile attack."

Since then, these "swamp killers" have become a nightmare for anyone who intends to set foot on this treacherous land, and Ramree is also ranked as one of the most dangerous and terrifying islands in the world.
