Representatives from Myanmar's Ministry of Tourism and Hotels have confirmed that, starting October 1st, tourists from six countries will be granted visas upon arrival in Myanmar.

Specifically, tourists from Australia, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain, and Switzerland will be allowed to enter Myanmar through Yangon, Mandalay, and Nay Pyi Taw international airports. Previously, in October 2018, Myanmar waived visa requirements for tourists from South Korea and Japan, and issued visas on arrival for Chinese tourists.

The Myanmar government's relaxed visa policy for foreign tourists has significantly boosted the number of international visitors. In the first six months of this year alone, Myanmar received 2.14 million international visitors, an increase of 420,000 compared to the same period in 2018.

Last year, Myanmar attracted over 3.55 million foreign tourists, with China leading the way, followed by Thailand. Myanmar's tourism industry aims to attract at least 7 million international visitors in 2020.
