Specifically, visitors from Australia, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain and Switzerland will be allowed to enter Myanmar through Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw international airports. Previously, in October 2018, Myanmar exempted visas for visitors from South Korea and Japan and issued visas at the airport for Chinese visitors.

The Myanmar government’s openness in granting visas to foreign tourists has helped the number of foreign visitors to Myanmar increase significantly. In the first 6 months of this year alone, the number of international visitors to Myanmar reached 2.14 million; an increase of 420,000 compared to the same period in 2018.
Last year, Myanmar attracted more than 3.55 million foreign tourists, led by China, followed by Thailand. The target of Myanmar's tourism industry in 2020 is to attract at least 7 million international tourists.
