Due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, many cultural activities celebrating the Lunar New Year 2021 across the country have been postponed or canceled to ensure safety in disease prevention and control.
On January 30th, in Hanoi, the Management Board of Duong Lam Ancient Village temporarily suspended the "My Hometown Tet Market" program. The program, scheduled to take place at the Mong Phu village gate, included activities for visitors such as making banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), candy-making, and traditional games. Prior to this, on the evening of January 29th, the Hoan Kiem District People's Committee did not hold the inauguration of the Phuc Tan Community Space and the opening ceremony of the Hang Luoc Tet Flower Market. However, the flower market and the Phung Hung mural street continued. Meanwhile, many tourist attractions in Hanoi, such as the West Lake Flower Valley, West Lake Water Park, Bat Trang pottery village, and Duong Lam ancient village, have closed and temporarily suspended operations, and will reopen to visitors when appropriate.

On January 29th, the Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Committee issued a document requesting strengthened disease prevention and control measures throughout the province. This included a request to cancel fireworks displays to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2021 (Year of the Ox) across the province. On the same day, the Vinh Phuc Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a document requesting the temporary suspension of large-scale festivals such as the Hai Luu Buffalo Fighting Festival and the Ngu Doi Temple Festival.
From 0:00 on January 29th, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province suspended all entertainment activities, including karaoke services, bars, and nightclubs. All large-scale artistic, cultural, and sporting events were canceled.

Previously, Son La province decided to cancel the Moc Chau International Marathon 2021, which was scheduled to open on January 30th. The local authorities had notified 4,300 registered athletes. All other recreational activities were suspended or organized with limited participation.
In Bac Giang, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has requested the "suspension of all festivals, cultural, sports, and entertainment activities at public places." The department has also postponed the ceremony to receive the national special historical site ranking certificate for the Hiep Hoa Revolutionary Base. Religious ceremonies and gatherings of 50 or more people at religious and worship facilities have been suspended. The department advises people to reduce the scale and simplify wedding and funeral ceremonies and procedures. People are encouraged to limit visits to karaoke venues, bars, saunas, massage parlors, arcades, cinemas, music cafes; football fields, golf courses, swimming pools, gyms, yoga studios, aerobics studios, dance studios, training grounds, and sports clubs; tourist attractions, historical and cultural sites, and scenic spots.

Cao Bang province has postponed cultural events at Kim Dong pedestrian street (Cao Bang city) from the evening of January 28th. Canceled activities include exhibitions, sports events, cultural performances, costume shows, and folk singing competitions.
In Da Nang, the organizers have temporarily suspended the Toom Sara Fest - Love Market event, scheduled for February 14-16 in Phu Tuc village, Hoa Phu commune, Hoa Vang district. This activity aims to preserve and develop the Co Tu culture while creating livelihoods for the people based on traditional values. Previously, the Hoa Vang District People's Committee sent a document canceling the Vietnamese New Year Festival 2021, scheduled for February 5-7. This festival was intended to promote the image of the homeland and the traditional cultural space of the ethnic groups, aiming to attract tourists to Hoa Vang to experience the traditional Tet holiday, sightseeing, and shopping. In addition, several programs at the Da Nang Museum, such as the 2021 Tet Market, the Da Nang Antique Market, and the opening ceremony of the Exhibition of Vietnamese Currency Through the Ages on January 30-31, have also been canceled.

Meanwhile, Hoi An city, Quang Nam province, suspended pedestrian and non-motorized vehicle activities in the Old Town area from February 4th. On January 30th, the Quang Nam Tourism Association announced the temporary suspension of the Hoi An Show, a live performance held every Saturday evening in the Old Town. This was one of the activities of the "Awakening Hoi An" project, organized by the city government and the business community to attract tourists and revive tourism.
Festivals, cultural events, and sporting events with more than 30 people in Khanh Hoa must be suspended from 0:00 on January 30th to prevent the spread of Covid-19. For essential events that must be held, attendees must wear masks, use hand sanitizer, and maintain the required social distancing. Departments and agencies must activate the epidemic prevention and control system.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has requested that units proceed with approved events and festivals while strictly adhering to epidemic prevention measures. Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee had approved plans to organize a series of festivals and events such as: Nguyen Hue Flower Street, the Book Street, the Spring Flower Festival at Tao Dan Park, fireworks displays, 3D lighting, and the Banh Tet Festival...
