Specifically, the 220 booths at the 2019 Southern Vietnam Traditional Cake Festival displayed and introduced traditional cakes, folk cuisine, regional specialties, and auxiliary ingredients for making cakes... from units, businesses, establishments, and artisans from districts and counties of Can Tho City and provinces and cities nationwide. This is a national-level cultural event and festival held annually to introduce, promote, and preserve the distinctive traditional cakes of Southern Vietnam to domestic and international tourists.
Many types of cakes were showcased at the 2019 Southern Vietnam Traditional Cake Festival.
This year, one of the top priorities for the Organizing Committee is the quality of the cakes showcased at the festival. Mr. Nguyen Khanh Tung, Director of the Can Tho Center for Investment Promotion, Trade and Exhibition, stated that the festival's Organizing Committee has inspected and retained samples of all ingredients used in all cooking activities at the stalls to ensure food safety and hygiene.
This year's festival features 220 booths from 8 countries and 18 provinces and cities within Vietnam.
In addition to showcasing and promoting various types of cakes and folk cuisine of Southern Vietnam, this year's festival also features a gala event titled "Forever Beautiful in the Ao Ba Ba Dress" to honor the traditional Southern Vietnamese Ao Ba Ba dress. The 2019 Southern Vietnamese Folk Cake Festival took place from April 12th to 16th, 2019.
