On the morning of March 30, the first international hot air balloon festival opened at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square (Tuyen Quang city) with the participation of 22 hot air balloons from the UK, the US, Japan, Taiwan (China), South Korea, Thailand, Spain, the Netherlands...
The festival is jointly organized by the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province, Vietjet Air, the International Balloon Federation and Ballooning Media Company. The festival is an activity in response to the program to launch safe, flexible and adaptive domestic tourism, effectively controlling the Covid-19 epidemic with the theme "Safe travel - Complete experience" of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
There were 22 hot air balloons from 7 countries participating in the festival.


The festival takes place for 5 days from March 30 to April 3, at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square (Tuyen Quang city), Tan Trao Square (Tan Trao commune, Son Duong district) and Na Tong village stadium (Thuong Lam commune, Lam Binh district).
Visitors will have the opportunity to experience many activities throughout the festival, viewing Tuyen Quang city from above such as: hanging flight, free flight, adventure flight and enjoying the light festival night show.
The price for the hang-gliding experience is 150,000 VND/trip, free flying is 4,500,000 VND/trip. In particular, visitors with a boarding pass or Vietjet electronic air ticket will experience free hang-gliding at the festival.

Sharing after experiencing a hot air balloon flight in Tuyen Quang city, tourist Nguyen Thanh Binh (Hanoi) said: “This is a very new activity. Looking from above, I feel extremely excited, if I can go further or stay in Na Hang, I will like it even more. The price for the experience is also very reasonable.”

The International Hot Air Balloon Festival is the first event held in the province, opening the Tuyen Quang Tourism Year 2022, commemorating the 75th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's return to Tuyen Quang to lead the national resistance war (April 2, 1947 - April 2, 2022). Many activities will take place to promote and attract domestic and international tourists right after Vietnam officially reopens to welcome tourists such as kayak racing on Na Hang Lake, exploring the primeval forest; experiencing the fire dancing culture of the Pa Then people or enjoying the culinary specialties of ethnic minorities on the walking street...

With the message "Tuyen Quang - a safe-friendly-attractive destination," the province expects the hot air balloon festival to be a highlight for Tuyen Quang Tourism Year, contributing to the goal of welcoming over 2.2 million visitors in 2022.
In March, hot air balloon festivals were also held in Da Nang, Hoi An, and Hanoi to welcome international visitors back to Vietnam after a two-year tourism freeze.
