On the morning of March 30th, the first International Hot Air Balloon Festival opened at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square (Tuyen Quang City) with performances by 22 hot air balloons from countries such as the UK, USA, Japan, Taiwan (China), South Korea, Thailand, Spain, and the Netherlands.
The festival is jointly organized by the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province, Vietjet Airlines, the International Balloon Association, and Ballooning Media Company. The festival is in response to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's program to promote safe, flexible, and effectively controlled domestic tourism under the theme "Safe Tourism - Complete Experience".
Twenty-two hot air balloons from seven countries participated in the festival.

The festival takes place over five days, from March 30th to April 3rd, at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square (Tuyen Quang City), Tan Trao Square (Tan Trao Commune, Son Duong District), and Na Tong Village Stadium (Thuong Lam Commune, Lam Binh District).
Visitors will have the opportunity to experience many activities throughout the festival, admire the city of Tuyen Quang from above, such as: hovering, free flying, adventure flying, and enjoy the night light festival show.
The price for a stationary hovering experience is 150,000 VND per ride, while a free-flying experience costs 4,500,000 VND per ride. Notably, visitors with a Vietjet boarding pass or e-ticket will receive a free hovering experience at the festival.

Tourists are excited about the experience of riding in a hot air balloon.

Sharing his experience after hovering in a hot air balloon in Tuyen Quang city, tourist Nguyen Thanh Binh (Hanoi) said: “This is a very novel activity. Looking down from above, I felt extremely delighted. It would be even better if I could go further around or stay in Na Hang. The price for the experience is also very reasonable.”
Participants lined up to wait for their turn to ride in the hot air balloon.
The International Hot Air Balloon Festival is the first event of its kind held in the province, marking the opening of the Tuyen Quang Tourism Year 2022 and commemorating the 75th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's return to Tuyen Quang to lead the nationwide resistance (April 2, 1947 - April 2, 2022). Many activities will take place to promote and attract domestic and international tourists immediately after Vietnam officially reopens to tourists, such as kayaking on Na Hang Lake, exploring the primeval forest; experiencing the fire-dancing culture of the Pa Then people, or enjoying the specialty cuisine of ethnic minorities along the pedestrian street...

With the message "Tuyen Quang: A safe, friendly, and attractive destination," the province hopes the hot air balloon festival will be a highlight of the Tuyen Quang Tourism Year, contributing to the goal of welcoming over 2.2 million tourists in 2022.
In March, hot air balloon festivals were also held in Da Nang, Hoi An, and Hanoi to welcome international tourists back to Vietnam after a two-year tourism freeze.
