At 10:00 AM on March 27, 2022, the Organizing Committee of the 2022 Hot Air Balloon Festival announced the temporary suspension of hot air balloon rides in the Long Bien longan orchard area to ensure the safety of visitors.
Previously, on the 25th and 26th, the hot air balloon festival attracted a large number of locals and tourists to experience and take photos. Two types of hot air balloons were used: the Class 1 type, which cannot carry passengers, and the Class 7 type, which is 22 meters high and approximately 18 meters in diameter according to international standards. The Class 7 balloon has a lifting capacity of up to 600 kg and has previously flown in several other Southeast Asian countries.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, after this festival, hot air balloons will become a regular tourism product of Hanoi to attract tourists and promote tourism.
The "Hanoi in a Kaleidoscope of Colors" hot air balloon festival, part of the "Hanoi Tourism Welcomes 2022 - Get on Hanoi 2022" program, is the opening event in a series of vibrant and attractive tourism promotion events, festivals, and programs to restart domestic and international tourism activities and attract visitors to Hanoi.
