Heavy rains and landslides are occurring in Nepal, making travel unsafe for tourists.

According to the Vietnamese Ambassador to India, Nepal, and Bhutan, Pham Sanh Chau, on July 11, a group of 13 Vietnamese and 5 Nepalese tourists were stranded due to heavy rain and landslides in Khang Sang village, about 150 km from Kathmandu. The Vietnamese group consisted of 8 men and 5 women who had traveled from Ho Chi Minh City to Nepal on July 5.

After notifying the Vietnamese Embassy, the delegation received assistance from the Honorary Consul in Nepal in coordination with local authorities. By July 13th, the delegation had been safely airlifted back to Kathmandu.

According to CNN, floods and landslides have killed 69 people, left more than 31 missing; more than 16,000 households have been evacuated, and at least 2,500 people have been rescued. According to Nepalese police, approximately two million people have been directly affected by the floods.

Due to the dangerous natural disasters, the Vietnamese Embassy advises Vietnamese citizens not to travel to Nepal during the monsoon season from now until the end of September. For information or assistance, tourists can contact the Vietnamese Embassy's citizen protection hotline in India: +91997 125 7204, or the general citizen protection hotline +84 981 848484.

The warning was issued because the period from July to the end of September is the monsoon season in Nepal. Since last weekend, heavy rains have begun affecting the South Asian region, with Nepal being the hardest hit.
