With many unique activities revolving around 5 main themes: "Seeing Tet; Playing Tet; Traveling Tet; Eating Tet; and Tet Market," the Vietnamese Tet Festival of the Year of the Dragon, held at Le Van Tam Park (District 1), received a great response from locals and tourists. After 4 days, the event recorded nearly 90,000 domestic and international visitors who came to visit, experience, and shop.
Many fun activities are organized during the Vietnamese Tet Festival.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, representing the festival's organizing unit, stated at the closing ceremony: "With a diverse and attractive series of cultural and entertainment activities, along with the participation of more than 150 tourism, trade, and food stalls, the festival attracted over 90,000 visitors who came to experience and shop during the four days of the event, with estimated revenue of nearly 50 billion VND."
Ms. Hoa believes that the success of the festival has affirmed its potential to become an annual cultural and tourism event for the city, contributing to preserving and promoting traditional customs, practices, and rituals that are deeply rooted in national cultural identity, and positioning Ho Chi Minh City's tourism brand. Furthermore, the festival demonstrates the unity and cooperation of the government and businesses in creating a meaningful event to serve residents and tourists, contributing to the economic and tourism development of the city.
At the festival venue, visitors can admire the characteristic traditional houses of the three regions of Vietnam (North, Central, and South), traditional Tet feasts, and 121 typical dishes... in the "Viewing Tet" activity.
The program includes various experiences centered around five themes: Celebrating Tet, Eating Tet, Traveling during Tet, Playing Tet, and Tet Market. At the event, the traditional Vietnamese house and Tet feast from all three regions of Vietnam are fully recreated.
Local dishes such as sweet soup, rose-shaped cakes, Nam O fish salad, duck wrapped in lotus leaves and clay... are also performed for tourists.
In addition, shopping promotions from over 70 food stalls from 30 provinces and cities across the country also attracted a large number of visitors.
The Tet celebration area, featuring various traditional folk games such as blindfolded pot smashing, tug-of-war, bamboo pole dancing, and O An Quan (a traditional board game), attracted many young people and families. In addition, Masan Consumer Holdings Corporation donated Tet gifts to 200 underprivileged children living in the city.
Traditional feasts and 121 typical dishes were prepared and showcased at the festival by families of culinary artisans. The traditional Central Vietnamese Tet feast impressed visitors with its eye-catching presentation.
Representing the Chairman of the Vietnam Culinary Culture Association, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky shared: "To ensure that the 2024 Vietnamese Tet Festival is exciting, attractive, effective, and safe, the Vietnam Culinary Culture Association has actively coordinated with the co-organizing unit, the Department of Tourism, the supporting unit, the Department of Industry and Trade, and other departments and agencies in the city." The event was lively, leaving many impressions and attracting the attention and support of locals, tourists, and many young people.
