Melia has been awarded the title of the world's most sustainable corporation.

Recently, Melia Hotels International has successfully surpassed other major players to become the most sustainable hotel management group in the global tourism industry, according to the latest report from SAM.

This award once again affirms the group's tireless efforts in socio-economic development while upholding its commitment to combating climate change for sustainable development.

The press conference "Melia Hotels International - Growth and Sustainable Development" took place on October 21st at Melia Hotel Hanoi.

In Vietnam, the company has launched a campaign to say no to single-use plastics across eight of its operating hotels, from the island of Phu Quoc to the forest of Ba Vi, since 2018. Melia has reduced its use of single-use plastic products and replaced plastic straws, cups, and bags with products made from bamboo, paper, wood, rice flour, or glass.

Meanwhile, each hotel also has its own activities contributing to the group's overall efforts. Before 2020, Melia aims to reduce water usage by 8% and CO2 emissions by 18.4% per guest, achieve 70% of total energy consumption from green energy sources, have 52% of its hotels certified for sustainability, incorporate sustainability clauses into contracts with partners and suppliers, and have 90% of its suppliers be local manufacturers.
