The fruit-picking festival is an annual event organized by Moc Chau district since 2014, aiming to introduce and promote Moc Chau's plum products and honor plum growers. It also creates momentum for the development of agriculture and tourism, attracting tourists to Moc Chau. The amount of plums sold to visitors during this event is expected to reach tens of tons.
The late-ripening plum tree was introduced to Moc Chau in the 1980s. To date, Moc Chau has become the largest late-ripening plum growing area in the country, with a total area of over 3,200 hectares, of which approximately 2,400 hectares are currently producing fruit; this year's yield is estimated at 28,000 tons.
After more than 40 years of development, the plum tree has not only been closely associated with the lives of the ethnic minorities in Moc Chau but has also become one of the main crops, helping farmers prosper in their homeland. The plum flowering and fruiting season is also an ideal time to attract tourists from all over to visit Moc Chau plateau for sightseeing and experiences.
