Cody Ellingham grew up in the rural Hawkes Bay region on the East Coast of New Zealand. The young photographer always dreamed of traveling to different cities around the world and photographing the buildings and places he saw along the way. He was especially keen to capture the hidden corners of the city lit up by neon lights at night.

At the age of 23, Ellingham moved to Japan to work. Taking advantage of the opportunity, he traveled to Bangkok (Thailand) to take a series of photos of the city at night. Ellingham took the photos over the summer and launched a Kickstarter campaign to publish the photos as a photo book.
