A valley in Songhe Village of Dali City in southwestern Yunnan Province, China, witnesses an "invasion" of hundreds of millions of beautiful butterflies every summer, earning it the nickname "butterfly valley".
Since the closure of several small private coal mines in the area 20 years ago, the ecological environment in the surrounding area has improved significantly, paving the way for the appearance of butterflies. The valley has seen a steady increase in butterfly numbers since May 2000, with butterflies regularly flocking to the valley each summer.
The Butterfly Valley is most famous for its white butterflies with black stripes. It is home to many species, in various sizes and colors. Countless colorful butterflies flutter in the wind, making the valley a fascinating destination for all visitors.
