Following the South Korean government's announcement that it would continue implementing "social distancing" until April 19th, the annual Cherry Blossom Festival in the country has been canceled to ensure the safety of its citizens during the pandemic.

In order to convey the stunning image of cherry blossoms in spring and to help tourists avoid disappointment at not being able to see them in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Songpa district government implemented this unique idea, allowing residents to view the blossoms online from their homes.
To capture the most vivid images from various angles, the Songpa authorities said they have equipped themselves with drones to film aerial shots and ensure the images are at the same eye level as visitors viewing the flowers in person.

The Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival is a typical annual tourist activity in Songpa County. The area surrounding Seokchon Lake is covered with rows of cherry trees, contributing to a refreshing atmosphere. Strolling beneath the trees, feeling the tranquility amidst the bustling city, one truly appreciates the peacefulness of life. The fatigue and stresses of work seem to fade away, leaving one feeling light and serene.

According to the Songpa district government, 5 million people visited Seokchon Lake last year to enjoy the beauty of the cherry blossoms.
