According to an announcement from the Vice Chairman of Xa Ho commune, Tram Tau district, on September 25th, the area experienced heavy rainfall, with a large volume of water flowing in from upstream. The local authorities also issued a warning against trekking Ta Chi Nhu mountain due to the lack of bridges over the streams and the high risk of flash floods and landslides in the area.
A tour guide specializing in Northwest Vietnam tours said he encountered heavy rain on September 22nd while leading a trekking group to Ta Chi Nhu. The paths that had been normal the day before, crossing streams, were damaged by landslides after just one night of rain, with muddy, fast-flowing water reaching depths of about 3-4 meters.
The rushing water is affecting tourists.
Many tourists had planned their trekking trip from Mu Cang Chai to Ta Chi Nhu as scheduled. However, due to the weather conditions, tourists faced a torrential downpour, turning the already treacherous trail into a real challenge that prevented them from descending the mountain.
According to information from Xa Ho commune, due to the impact of Typhoon Yagi, the road from Tram Tau to Xa Ho is facing many difficulties. Prolonged heavy rain has saturated the soil and rocks, causing serious landslides. Therefore, to ensure the safety of tourists, trekking activities to Ta Chi Nhu should be temporarily suspended. To ensure the safety of tourists, the local authorities recommend temporarily halting trekking activities and waiting until the weather is more favorable, from around October onwards.
Although it is currently peak tourist season, due to the impact of the local weather, tourists have been warned against engaging in risky activities.
