Cherry blossoms are a symbol of spring that everyone hopes to see at least once. However, you don't have to go to Japan to see cherry blossoms; you can choose one of the cities below for your spring trip.

Vancouver, Canada

With over 130,000 cherry trees, it's no surprise that Vancouver hosts a festival for these beautiful blossoms every year. Beginning in 2005, the event includes a range of fun activities such as a haiku contest, live music performances, and a large-scale picnic in Queen Elizabeth Park. March is also the month when the city holds its cherry blossom festival.

Macon, Georgia

This seemingly unremarkable city is located in central Georgia, 135 km from Atlanta. Visiting in the spring, you'll witness a spectacular sight rarely found elsewhere.

Macon is one of the world's cherry blossom capitals, with its streets lined with over 300,000 Yoshino cherry trees. The largest cherry blossom festival in South Korea is called Jinhae Gunhangje, located in Jinhae County, Gyeongsang Province, just a 4-hour bus ride from Seoul. The picturesque Yeojwacheon Bridge, with its cherry blossoms cascading down over the Yeojwacheon stream, is one of the most beautiful places in South Korea during spring. You can also enjoy a variety of street food, from traditional dishes like stuffed squid and Korean pastries to seasonal treats such as cherry blossom bread, a peach-shaped pastry resembling cherry blossoms.

Finally, we can't forget Japan – the homeland of this flower. Every year, tourists flock here around March and April to participate in the hanami festival – the cherry blossom viewing festival. Although cherry blossoms grow in many places throughout Japan, Kyoto is a must-visit destination if you are a fan of this famous flower. The ancient capital of Japan has unmissable cherry blossom viewing spots such as the Philosopher's Path – which follows a canal lined with hundreds of cherry trees in bloom – and Maruyama Park, famous for its incredibly magnificent cherry trees.
