The 8th International Yoga Day, themed “Yoga for Humanity,” will be held in eight provinces and cities across Vietnam, including Hanoi, Da Nang, Vinh Phuc, Thanh Hoa, Quang Ninh, Lao Cai, Thua Thien Hue, and Quang Nam.
The Indian Embassy, in collaboration with the Vietnam Buddhist Association, organized the opening event for the 8th International Yoga Day on May 29th at Tam Chuc Pagoda, Ha Nam province.

In Hanoi, the Embassy has planned to organize the 8th International Yoga Day on June 18th at the King Ly Thai To Monument Square in Hoan Kiem District to provide an opportunity for a large number of yoga enthusiasts to participate in this event.
Similarly, the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City will also organize International Yoga Day events in 15 southern provinces and cities, including Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan, Dak Nong, Dong Thap, Dak Lak, Phu Yen, Tien Giang, Soc Trang, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Binh Dinh, and An Giang.
This year, India is celebrating its 75th anniversary of independence, known as "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" (75th Anniversary of India's Independence). Simultaneously, India and Vietnam are also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
On the occasion of the 8th International Yoga Day, in a letter to Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that, in a world besieged by many challenges, more than 1 billion people have embraced Yoga as a method to enhance their physical, mental, spiritual, and intellectual well-being.

Prime Minister Modi also thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for the Vietnamese Government's dedicated support in celebrating International Yoga Day in Vietnam for the past eight years. The Prime Minister expressed his hope that Vietnam would continue to support the successful organization of the 8th International Yoga Day and expressed his belief that yoga will contribute to creating a healthy and peaceful planet.
Vietnam has been selected by the Indian government as one of the countries included in the Global Yoga Ring program, also known as the Guardian Ring program.
Accordingly, throughout June 21st, India's national television station, Doordarshan, will broadcast live the International Yoga Day celebration from around the world, according to the time zones of the respective countries. To facilitate this program, the Indian Embassy has collaborated with Quang Ninh province to organize this major event in Ha Long Bay.

Yoga is a five-thousand-year-old tradition from ancient India, combining physical, mental, and spiritual activities to achieve harmony of body and mind. Recognizing the benefits and popularity of Yoga, on December 11, 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21st of each year as International Yoga Day.
This statement was made after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for June 21st to be adopted as International Yoga Day in his speech to the United Nations General Assembly on September 27, 2014.
