The Ice Cream Graveyard was created in 1998 as a way for Ben & Jerry's to commemorate the flavors that had been discontinued over time. The idea came from customers who frequently expressed regret when their favorite flavors were discontinued.
Even the most devoted Ben & Jerry’s customers don’t know this “flavor graveyard” exists. Visitors can find the ice cream cemetery in the backyard of the company’s factory in Waterbury, Vermont, where more than 350,000 people visit each year.
Understanding this, an ice cream company in Vermont has set up a "burial place" for "dead" ice cream flavors.
Ben & Jerry's started this graveyard with just four headstones to commemorate beloved ice cream flavors that are no longer enjoyed. According to an October 1, 2015 blog post, Ben & Jerry's "commemorated" four original flavors: Dastardly Mash, Economic Crunch, Ethan Almond, and Tuskegee Chunk, which were only available in the United States.
Ben&Jerry's is a famous ice cream brand that is loved by Americans.
The "ice cream graveyard" also has tombstones with pictures, names, and "lifespans" of the ice cream flavors. Below are poems commemorating, introducing, and explaining the reasons for their disappearance. Currently, there are about 35 ice cream flavors "buried" in the Flavor Graveyard.
Before being "registered" in the graveyard, many of the company's flavors had taken over the American ice cream market.

Some ice creams last a long time, but some have a short shelf life. "Ice cream flavors, like everything else, have a beginning and an end. Some flavors last, others are not so lucky. Here we pay tribute to them," the Flavor Graveyard website says. According to Ben & Jerry's, many ice cream flavors are accidentally overlooked by customers, only to be regretted when they are discontinued.

Mocha Fudge Brownie is a famous tombstone in this cemetery, once one of Ben & Jerry's most beloved ice cream flavors. The perfect combination of chocolate, coffee and brownie has conquered the hearts of many ice cream lovers. However, in 1998, Ben & Jerry's decided to "kill" this flavor, making many people extremely regretful. Finding the right ingredients or complicated production processes can make it difficult for Ben & Jerry's to maintain this flavor. For many people, Mocha Fudge Brownie is not just a simple ice cream flavor, but also a part of memories and childhood.
The "graves" are fully annotated about their owners.

Some ice cream flavors have been discontinued due to seasonal availability, like Festivus, a brown sugar ice cream with crushed gingerbread cookies. However, the good news for ice cream lovers is that they can request that certain flavors be brought back as limited editions.
