The idea of painting the national flag on rooftops began appearing on social media in late July and quickly became a phenomenon. Starting with a trending video on TikTok by a user named Le Quang Vu about repainting a rooftop with the Vietnamese flag, numerous other images with the same theme have been posted and received positive feedback in recent days.
On social media platforms, people in many provinces and cities across the country enthusiastically responded to this trend as a small but meaningful act to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2024). Many people not only left comments expressing their patriotism and pride but also eagerly encouraged each other to participate, turning it into a phenomenon in the digital space.

Nguyen Thai Trong, from Ngoc Lac district, Thanh Hoa province, also completed the flag on his roof. The 28-year-old said he learned about this trend on social media and wanted to do it to show his patriotism. After measuring and preparing the paint, it took him 15 minutes to complete. He is the first person in his area to do it. In addition to the national flag, Trong plans to paint the hammer and sickle flag on the remaining part of the roof of his house in the near future.
After completing the project, the young man posted on his personal page, calling on people in the surrounding area to join him in painting the Vietnamese flag on their rooftops if they wished, and he would film the process with a drone. To date, Trong has received offers of assistance from more than a dozen people. "I hope that in the future, all rooftops across the country will be covered with the Vietnamese flag so that when viewed from above, the world will know that this territory belongs to Vietnam, and how much the people love their country," Trong shared.
People everywhere are joining the trend of "turning every rooftop into a national flag."
The red flag stretches from North to South.
The "turn every rooftop into a flag" movement is no longer limited to major cities but has spread to rural areas, mountainous regions, and remote islands. Families, from the lowlands to the highlands, have proactively bought paint to decorate their rooftops, creating a colorful spectacle that reflects the unity and determination of the entire nation. This is not just a duty, but also a source of pride.
National pride is soaring.
The red flag with a yellow star, the sacred symbol of the Fatherland, now flies proudly on every rooftop.
The red flag with a yellow star, the sacred symbol of the Fatherland, now flutters proudly over every rooftop. This image is not only a source of national pride but also evokes a wealth of emotions. It recalls the heroic days of the resistance war, when the red flag with a yellow star flew over the trenches, a flame that ignited the belief in victory. And now, in peacetime, that flag continues to be a sacred flame, illuminating the path forward for the nation.
A strong bond connecting Vietnamese hearts.
The red flag with a yellow star atop every house is not only a symbol of an independent nation but also a strong bond connecting Vietnamese hearts. From cities to rural areas, from the lowlands to the highlands, the image of that flag is an affirmation: We are one nation, one family. This spirit of unity has helped the Vietnamese people overcome countless difficulties and challenges and will forever be a solid foundation for the country's development.
Every small act is a noble gesture.
Not limited to major holidays, this movement has the potential to become a new national tradition. Drawing the national flag can become a part of daily life, helping to strengthen national spirit and unity. In the future, the movement could be expanded with new initiatives such as organizing competitions for the most beautiful flag display or cultural events related to the national flag.
The "turn every rooftop into a flag" movement has painted a beautiful picture of patriotism. Who could have imagined that a small act like painting a flag on a rooftop could create such a widespread impact? Each flag on a rooftop is an affirmation of love for the homeland, an expression of national pride, and proof of the strength of unity.
