Unique architecture and a blend of Eastern and Western cultures.
Luan Nguyen, a photographer and designer living in Ho Chi Minh City, has visited this place before. He shared: “Binh Phan Ancient House is one of the few remaining houses with neoclassical architecture combined with Art Nouveau murals, a style that was popular in previous centuries. That's what impressed me from the first time I stepped inside the house.”

Impressive interior architecture of the house.
Completed in 1929 by Mr. Le Ngoc Chieu, this house is a source of pride for the Cho Gao area, reflecting the period of cultural exchange between East and West in Vietnam. With its refined details and harmonious blend of Western architecture and distinctive East Asian features, it stands out as a remarkable architectural work amidst a turbulent historical context.

An old house covered in moss.
Upon entering this old house, many visitors are captivated by the moss-covered beauty of its walls. However, the somewhat gloomy atmosphere and the house's abandonment create a feeling of fear mixed with curiosity.
Moss covers the walls, creating an ancient, mysterious, and captivating atmosphere.
"My first feeling upon arriving here was fear. Standing alone in this deserted, moss-covered old house, I couldn't help but shiver. But I also can't deny that the house is truly beautiful and impressive," Luân Nguyễn exclaimed.
The contrast between the dilapidated exterior and the exquisite architectural details inside makes the Binh Phan ancient house even more special. Those who dare to explore deeper inside will admire the perfect combination of meticulously painted walls and ancient architecture, a place that once served as the residence of an upper-class family during the golden age of the Cho Gao region.

The Binh Phan ancient house is not yet officially managed or developed for tourism, so visiting it isn't exactly easy. "I came here by chance when a friend took me, and I honestly don't know if any government or tourism agency organizes official tours," Luan said. However, he also noted that if tourists want to find this place, they should go to the Binh Phan area and ask the locals. Almost everyone knows about this famous ancient house.
Preserving cultural values
Despite not being maintained and preserved like other historical buildings, Binh Phan ancient house remains a destination for those passionate about ancient architecture, exploring a part of the unique history and culture of Cho Gao, Tien Giang. Abandoned for many years, the house's beauty is still captivating and leaves any visitor in awe.

"These old houses not only reflect the lifestyle of people at that time but also serve as places to express wishes and thoughts through symbols and decorative patterns. Structures like these help future generations better understand the past, thereby recognizing the importance of preserving cultural heritage," Luan further shared.
