On August 25th, Mount Asama in central Japan erupted, prompting the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) to issue warnings of flying rocks and lava within a 2-kilometer radius of the crater.

According to the JMA, at 7:28 p.m. local time on Sunday, August 25, Mount Asama erupted. A plume of smoke rose more than 600 meters high and then spread northward, with a large amount of lava accumulating at the crater's edge, reaching a height of approximately 200 meters.

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) issued a Level 2 volcanic hazard warning on a five-level scale, meaning people should avoid approaching the mountain.

This is the second eruption this month, coming nearly three weeks after the last one on August 7th. The JMA is closely monitoring the volcano's activity and forecasting the risk of another eruption of similar intensity.

Mount Asama, standing at 2,568 meters, spans the prefectures of Gunma and Nagano and is located approximately 140 kilometers northwest of Tokyo.
