On July 4, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hien, owner of a canoe service in Duong To commune, Phu Quoc city, Kien Giang province, said that visitors to Phu Quoc are quite busy during the summer vacation.
He has 9 canoes (20 - 38 seats), running 12 trips/day but still not enough to serve tourists who want to visit the 4 An Thoi islands tour to dive, see coral, take photos and swim.
"Every day we have to refuse many groups of customers calling to book canoes because they are overloaded," said Mr. Hien.
Nguyen Ha Trieu, manager of a diving resort, said that every day there are thousands of visitors coming here to have fun. Because of the large number of visitors, more than 30 tour guides here have to work continuously for 6-8 hours a day.
Other famous entertainment spots such as Hon Thom cable car, VinWonders Phu Quoc theme park, and Safari Phu Quoc always have thousands of visitors.
Mr. Huynh Cong Minh, a tourist from Can Tho City, said that this summer he and his family chose Phu Quoc for a 4-day, 3-night vacation. With the help of friends who booked the canoe service in advance, Mr. Minh had a complete, meaningful vacation with his family.
"Phu Quoc is so crowded with tourists, it's so wonderful. If my friends didn't help me book in advance, I think it would be difficult to find a tour guide here," said Mr. Minh.
Phu Quoc tourism attracts many tourists.
Mr. Bui Quoc Thai, Director of Kien Giang Department of Tourism, said that currently there are a lot of tourists coming to Phu Quoc. To avoid tourists being ripped off, the department has established many inspection teams to ensure that local tourism businesses sell at the right price, ensure food safety, and avoid affecting the health of visitors and the image of local tourism.
In An Giang, Ms. Huynh Thi Nhu Lam, Head of Tourism Development Department, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that in the first 6 months of 2022, An Giang welcomed about 5.2 million visitors, an increase of 60% over the same period in 2021, estimated at 113% of the 2022 plan.
Of which, the number of guests staying at standard hotels was 110,000, down 26% over the same period in 2021, estimated at 55% of the 2022 plan. Revenue from tourism activities is estimated at VND 2,900 billion, up 37% over the same period in 2021, estimated at 97% of the 2022 plan.
Ms. Vo Thi Tuyet Ngoa - Head of Tourism Management Department, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap province - said that in the first 6 months of this year 2022, Dong Thap welcomed over 2 million visitors, an increase of 78.57% over the same period in 2021. Total tourism revenue is estimated to be over 800 billion VND in the first 6 months, an increase of 124.72% over the same period in 2021.
From now until the end of the year, Dong Thap strives to have 1.5 million more visitors to visit and enjoy. Total tourism revenue is estimated to be 700 billion VND in the last 6 months of 2022.
