This year's National Geographic Travel Photography Contest is divided into three categories: Nature, People, and Cities. The first-place winner in each category will receive $2,500, second place $1,500, and third place $750. Below is Weimin Chu's photo "Winter in Greenland," which won the Grand Prize in the Cities category.

Second place in the Urban category was “Age of Flight” by Jassen Todorov, which shows a plane preparing to land on the runway at San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

The People’s Choice Award in the Urban category went to “Follow the Light” by Junhui Fang. The photo was taken at the Seda Larung Gar Buddhist Academy in the Larung Valley at an altitude of 4,000 meters, about 15 kilometers from Sertar Town, Garze, Tibet.

The People's Choice Award in the Nature category went to “Colorado River” by Stas Bartnikas, taken from a Cessna.

The People category's People's Choice Award went to Leo Kwok's “How to train your dragon” which depicts people from Meizhou, Guangdong province, China carrying lanterns during the Lantern Festival.

“Streets of Dhaka” is the name of the third prize winning photo in the Urban category taken by photographer Sandipani Chattopadhyay. The photo shows people praying on the streets of Dhaka, Bangladesh during Biswa Ijtema - the second largest Muslim festival in the country, after the pilgrimage to Mecca.

In the Nature category, the first prize went to “Tender Eyes” by Tamara Blazquez Haik, which captured a beautiful Griffon vulture in flight in Monfragüe National Park, Spain.

"Dream Catcher" is the second prize winner in the Nature category, taken by Danny Sepkowski at a beach in Hawaii.

Third place went to photographer Scott Portelli's "Dusky Dolphins." The photo was taken off the coast of Kaikoura in New Zealand's South Island.

First prize in the People category went to photographer Huaifeng Li for his work “Performance,” which captures actors in makeup preparing for an evening performance in Licheng County, Shanxi Province, China.
