This year's National Geographic Travel Photography Contest is divided into three categories: Nature, People, and Cities. The first-place winner in each category will receive $2,500, the second-place winner $1,500, and the third-place winner $750. Second place in the Urban category went to "The Age of Aviation" by Jassen Todorov. The photograph depicts an airplane preparing to land on the runway at San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

The Readers' Choice Award in the Urban category went to Junhui Fang's work "Follow the Light." The photo was taken at the Seda Larung Gar Buddhist Academy, located in the Larung Valley at an altitude of 4,000 meters, about 15km from Sertar town, Garze, Tibet.

The Readers' Choice Award in the Nature category went to Stas Bartnikas's photograph "Colorado River," taken from a Cessna aircraft.

The Readers' Choice Award in the People category went to Leo Kwok's photograph "How to Train Your Dragon," depicting people in Meizhou, Guangdong Province, China, carrying lanterns during the Lantern Festival.

"Streets in Dhaka" is the title of the third-prize winning photograph in the Urban category, taken by photographer Sandipani Chattopadhyay. The image shows people praying in the streets of Dhaka, Bangladesh, during Biswa Ijtema – the second-largest Islamic festival in the country, after the pilgrimage to Mecca.

In the Nature category, first prize went to Tamara Blazquez Haik's photograph "Tender Eyes." The image captures a stunning Griffon vulture soaring through the air in Monfragüe National Park, Spain.

"Dream Chaser" is the second-place winning entry in the Nature category, photographed by Danny Sepkowski on a beach in Hawaii.

In third place is "Dusky Dolphins" by photographer Scott Portelli. The photo was taken off the coast of Kaikoura in the South Island, New Zealand.

This photograph shows a herd of Alpine ibex goats in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland, attempting to cross a mountain slope above Lake Brienz. The photo, taken by Jonas Schafer, won an honorable mention in the Nature category.

The first prize in the People category went to photographer Huaifeng Li for his work "The Performance," which depicts actors getting dressed up in preparation for an evening performance in Licheng County, Shanxi Province, China.
