On October 17th, the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Office announced that the Provincial People's Committee had sent a document to the Hoi An City People's Committee and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism regarding strengthening the management of the tourism environment in Hoi An.
According to the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee, on March 22, 2023, the Provincial People's Committee issued a directive to strengthen the management of the tourism environment and ensure security and safety for tourists in the province.
In recent times, various sectors and localities have actively developed plans and action programs to strengthen management and improve the tourism environment at destinations.
In particular, Hoi An City has actively strengthened measures to inspect and rectify tourism and service activities, ensuring a safe tourism environment and restoring traffic safety in some areas of the city, limiting encroachment on roads and sidewalks, contributing to building the image of Quang Nam as a green tourist destination.
Quang Nam province has directed a decisive crackdown on the practice of forcing tourists to buy goods and soliciting them to use spa services in Hoi An.
However, the problem of street vendors in the Old Quarter, especially the selling of paper birds near the Japanese Bridge, pressuring customers to buy goods, and soliciting customers for spa services, still persists and has not been completely resolved. This detracts from the aesthetics, compromises security and safety, and creates a negative impression on tourists.
In the Bay Mau coconut forest area of Cam Thanh commune, noise pollution from the use of high-powered loudspeakers, touting, and unauthorized price gouging of services still occur frequently, causing frustration among locals and tourists. The situation of touting, competing for customers, and price gouging at Cua Dai wharf, as well as the open organization of tours for tourists at the Cu Lao Cham pier, and the manual departure procedures, causes inconvenience for visitors.
In order to continue building a civilized, safe, and clean tourism environment, the Provincial People's Committee requests the Hoi An City People's Committee to coordinate with relevant agencies and units to urgently inspect, handle, and definitively resolve the aforementioned issues.
