In an announcement released on April 30th, Kansai International Airport (KIX) stated that they have not lost a single piece of luggage since opening in September 1994. Many passengers expressed joy and relief that their luggage would arrive safely, but one group paid little attention to this achievement: the ground staff.
This is an incredibly impressive achievement, compared to the global average baggage loss rate which ranges from 0.5% to 1%.
According to statistics, airport baggage handlers and ground staff at KIX have done an excellent job for the past 30 years. The airport serves an average of 20 to 30 million passengers annually. Remarkably, baggage handlers and ground staff have never had a lost bag. However, if someone does get lost en route to or from KIX, it is likely the fault of the airline, not the airport.
Kansai International Airport has not lost a single piece of luggage since its opening in September 1994.
Kansai International Airport's efforts were recognized by Skytrax, a prestigious organization specializing in evaluating the global aviation market, and awarded the "World's Best Airport Baggage Handling Service" in April of this year.
