To prepare for this important cultural event, on March 5, 2019, the Organizing Committee held a press conference at the Saigon Times Club Hall, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. According to Mr. Tang Quang Anh, Deputy Director of the Can Tho Investment Promotion, Trade and Exhibition Center, the 2019 Southern Traditional Cake Festival will feature 200 booths, including 100 booths showcasing Southern traditional cakes and 100 booths displaying specialties from other regions.
The theme of the 2019 Southern Vietnam Traditional Cake Festival was "Flavors and Colors of the South". Last year, the festival attracted 500,000 domestic and international visitors, with participation from 17 provinces and cities and 8 countries worldwide. Over 200 booths showcased and promoted 100 types of traditional cakes, generating sales revenue of 250 billion VND.

The festival is a national-level cultural event held annually (this year marks the 8th edition) to introduce, promote, and preserve the distinctive traditional cakes of Southern Vietnam to domestic and international tourists. The festival also provides visitors with the opportunity to experience the culinary culture of the Southern region.
The 2019 Southern Vietnam Traditional Cake Festival will be held at the Can Tho Investment Promotion, Trade and Exhibition Center (108A Le Loi Street, Cai Khe Ward, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City). A highlight of the festival is a recreated traditional setting featuring tools and artisans demonstrating and guiding visitors in making various traditional cakes. There will also be a self-service buffet of nearly 100 types of traditional cakes for both domestic and international visitors. The festival will also showcase over 50 varieties of Vietnamese teas and traditional and innovative beverages.
