A serious incident occurred at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, causing disruptions to numerous flights. A roof collapse at the main airport in India's capital, New Delhi, resulted in one death, eight injuries, and the cancellation of many flights. The entire city of 20 million people recorded a total of 228.1mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 am, 266% higher than normal.
Heavy rains followed a recent heatwave in New Delhi and other parts of India. Several areas in the capital region were also flooded, submerging many vehicles. The subway system was affected, with traffic congestion in many places and power outages in some areas.
