Bergamo is a city in the Lombardy region of northern Italy, nestled at the foot of the Alps. In March 2020, it was the epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic in Italy, with the highest number of cases in the country. From its past "collapse," Bergamo gradually transformed itself into a proactive city with rigorous pandemic prevention measures. When the second wave of Covid-19 outbreaks returned to Italy, Bergamo truly achieved an extraordinary feat – recording the lowest number of infections nationwide.
With a population of approximately 122,000, Bergamo is the fourth largest city in the province of Normandy and the capital of the province.
