According to the latest news, from July 29, 2024, Phu Quoc High-Speed Ferry Joint Stock Company announced that it will suspend operations on the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao route until further notice.
The reason for suspending the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao ferry service is due to its inefficiency stemming from various factors. Specifically, the Saigon - Hiep Phuoc port is far from the city center, requiring passengers to take shuttle buses or travel independently, which takes considerable time. The operation of this route is also affected by weather and other factors, leading to numerous operational difficulties. Because of these challenges and high ticket prices, this ferry service is becoming less popular among passengers.
Previously, on May 13th, the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao high-speed ferry route officially launched with ticket prices ranging from 615,000 VND to 1.1 million VND per trip.

This is the first passenger waterway route from Ho Chi Minh City directly to Con Dao, giving city residents more travel options. While the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao route is suspended, the Thang Long ferry, with a capacity of over 1,000 seats, will operate on the Vung Tau - Con Dao route. The operating company will also consider increasing the frequency of this route to meet the needs of locals and tourists.
Phu Quoc High-Speed Ferry Joint Stock Company shared that the operation of the route has not achieved the desired results. The company has temporarily suspended high-speed ferry operations to review and find a suitable solution for this route. After a suitable solution is found, the company will submit it to the relevant authorities for consideration and arrangement to resume operation of the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao route.
The news of the temporary suspension of the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao high-speed ferry service is regrettable for tourists and the tourism industry in Con Dao. In the coming time, it is hoped that effective solutions will be implemented to bring this high-speed ferry service back to operation efficiently, thereby boosting the tourism industry in Con Dao.
